HUS IUDP Alumni Trajectories: Desirable Workforce in Global Markets

HUS IUDP graduates successfully compete at the global level for spots at prestigious graduate schools and positions in international organizations and the corporate sector. Two-thirds of our talent continue their education at the graduate level, whereas one-third pursue careers in public service and corporations as analysts and consultants. Many of our alumni regularly give back by participating in HUS faculty, administrative, and student activities.

Alumni Stories

Alumni Stories: Emma

I still remember the day I received my acceptance letter for the Human Sciences International Undergraduate Degree Program (IUDP) at Osaka University, and how happy I was to share that special moment with my family.

Alumni Stories: Tomoya

Nothing ahead was clear even after moving into the dormitory. I joined the IUDP program with a vague interest in Human Sciences and a vague interest of becoming a social studies teacher. But the program gradually cultivated within me a sense of awareness toward the outside world.

Alumni Stories: Nam

Hi, I’m Nam and I’m a student of the 2017 cohort. At the moment of this writing, I am enrolled in the Master Program of Kyosei Studies at Human Sciences Department, Osaka University. Looking back at my years of studying in the Human Sciences International Undergraduate Degree Program (IUDP) and living in Japan, I thought that I’ve learned a lot and I hope some of the experience shared below will be helpful to you.

Alumni Stories: Giang

From October 2021 to September 2022, I was a Master of Science (MSc) in Sociology student at the University of Oxford. In the spring and summer of 2022, I was accepted as a PhD student to both the University of Tokyo’s Graduate Program on Global Society for Area Studies major, and the Research Group on Gender Inequalities and Fertility of Max Planck Institute for Demographic Research (MPIDR).

Alumni Stories: Risa

Looking back at my undergraduate years, I was fortunate to study and explore diverse social science subjects. Although I was initially interested in studying sociology and anthropology, after my three years at the Human Sciences International Undergraduate Degree Program (HUS) at Osaka University and my exchange year abroad at UC Berkeley, I found my true passion towards public policy.

Alumni Stories: Asami

Four years as an undergraduate student at Osaka University was the best opportunity to attain invaluable experiences both inside and outside classrooms, build long-lasting networks of friends, professors, and future colleagues, and gain guidance to further delve into academic interests through two Master’s degrees in the following years after graduation.
