Profile
Christian Etzrodt made his undergraduate studies in Economics at the University of Bonn and the University of Fribourg. He received his first PhD in Economics from the University of Cologne and his second PhD in Sociology from Ritsumeikan University. He taught Sociology and Economics at Akita International University and the International College of Liberal Arts (iCLA) at Yamanashi Gakuin University before he came to Osaka University. He was the Founding Associate Dean of the International College of Liberal Arts. Etzrodt has taught in the last 17 years a wide range of courses (altogether over 125 courses so far) in Sociology, Economics, Political Science, and Anthropology. He has published in prestigious journals and other social scientists are regularly citing his articles (currently over 400 citations on Google Scholar). And has written two books about sociological and economic theory in German. He leads a research project with a group of international scholars from the United Kingdom (3), the Netherlands, Belgium, Sweden, Germany, Australia, and Macao about the role of elite networks in global governance. A symposium about this topic will be held at the end of October 2023.

Christian Etzrodt is a Member of the International Editorial Board of Humanities & Social Sciences Communications (Springer Nature) and he conducts once a year a Model United Nations simulation for international schools in Tokyo (organized by Seisen International School).
